STORYLINE:
Home runner Daniel Jones and Hannah Oldroyd from Britain won the men's and women's races of the Queenstown Marathon respectively on Saturday as the picturesque event attracted over 12,000 athletes.
Wellington-based Jones won the men's race in two hours 26 minutes and 30 seconds, while Oldroyd finished first in the women's race with 2:53:09.
"A marathon is always hard work but to be back in Queenstown racing again is awesome, it was amazing, it was pretty perfect conditions, a little bit windy but we had such good crowd support and when it comes down to it, racing is racing, so that's what drove us home in the end," said Jones.
There are four events in this year's Queenstown Marathon including full marathon, half marathon, the 10km and 3km Kids Run.
