STORYLINE:
An annual horse festival was held in the eastern Mongolian province of Khentii on Saturday.
Almost 200 participants and around 1,000 horses across Mongolia attended the eighth edition of the festival called "Horses of Mongolian Steppe", which was held in Batnorov soum of the province.
Multiple activities such as horse racing, lasso competition, parade of children on horseback and horse-related exhibition were organized within the framework of the annual event co-organized by the Ministry of Culture and the Governor's Office of Khentii Province.
Mongolia ranks among the top worldwide in terms of horse population.
As of the end of 2021, the number of Mongolia's livestock reached 67.3 million and 6.4 percent of them were horses.
