U.S. President Joe Biden attended a vigil on Wednesday night for victims of gun violence in the country.
The event came a week before the 10th anniversary of the Sandy Hook school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut.
Biden on Wednesday continued to call for a ban on assault weapons, saying that the measure is "just common sense."

"Even as our work continues to limit the number of bullets that can be in a cartridge, the type of weapon that can be purchased and sold, the attempt to ban assault weapons -- a whole range of things that are just common sense. Just simple common sense."
