Cretier prevails in stop-start
French veteran Jean-Luc Cretier (C) finally tastes Olympic glory after an upset win in the Olympic Alpine men's downhill on Feb. 13 in Hakuba, Central Japan. The blue ribbon event of the Winter Games, which was finally staged after three cancellations, was interrupted by a number of injuries caused by spectacular crashes near the top of the course, but Cretier held his nerve to win in 1 minute 50.11 seconds.
