Second Olympic gold for ''Das Monster''
Austria's Hermann Maier carves his way to Olympic gold in the Alpine skiing men's giant slalom on Feb. 19 at Yamanouchi, central Japan. Maier, also known as ''Das Monster'' and ''Herminator,'' took the gold medal ahead of compatriot Stefan Eberharter and Switzerland's Michael von Gruenigen. Italy's Alberto Tomba crashed out in his first run.
