Canadian warship enters Kobe Port

The Canadian Navy supply vessel Protecteur sails for Kobe Port on May 28. The call drew protests from citizens for its failure to submit a nonnuclear weapons certificate required under Kobe's municipal regulations. The Japanese Foreign Ministry explained that the ship does not carry nuclear weapons because Canada has signed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.
