Former war laborers protest Japan embassy in Jakarta
About 100 Indonesians recruited as laborers by the Japanese army during World War II stage a protest Jan. 26 in front of the Japanese Embassy in Jakarta to demand compensation from the Japanese government for unpaid salaries. Some of them showed broken bamboo sticks which they said had been used by Japanese soldiers to beat them.
