Season for cormorant fishing begins
The season for ukai, Japan's traditional method of catching small river fish by manipulating trained cormorants, gets under way on River Nagaragawa in Gifu Prefecture, central Japan, on May 11. Ukai, now a tourist attraction, has a long history dating back to 7th century.
