Rites held to bless Kansai Int'l Airport expansion

OSAKA, Japan - A ceremonial prayer for the safe completion of a planned second runway at the Kansai International Airport Co. (KIAC) is held on July 11 at the round-the-clock offshore airport near Osaka. The ceremony, attended by some 100 people, including KIAC President Kiyoyasu Mikanagi, officials of the Transport Ministry and heads of local administration, is administered aboard a ship by a Shinto priest who sprinkled sacred rice wine into the sea.
