S.R. Nathan wins Singapore's presidency
SINGAPORE, Singapore - Diplomat and former civil servant Sellapan Ramanathan, better known as S.R. Nathan, easily wins the right Aug. 18 to become Singapore's next president. The bids of other candidates to run in a popular election later in August were rejected. Photo shows Nathan making a speech to his supporters in Singapore the same day.
