Ship makes 1st Japan call in linkup with 2 Koreas

NIIGATA, Japan - The 3,240-ton Chinese vessel, Chuxing, the first ship to ply a regular container route linking Japan, South Korea and North Korea, is in Niigata East Port on the Sea of Japan coast Aug. 20 for its inaugural call. A Chinese-South Korean joint venture opened the new route. One of its three regular shipments, which have so far linked Pusan in southern South Korea and the northeastern North Korea port of Rajin, will stop at Niigata after Rajin from now on.
