Lightning paralyzes Tokyo train services
TOKYO, Japan - Stranded passengers, most of them commuters, throng toward to East Japan Railway Co. (JR East) officials for explanation at Tokyo's Shinjuku Station late Aug. 24 after lightning knocked out power lines providing electricity to rail services. Trains were delayed for up to five hours and some stations were left in the dark in what JR East said was the worst outage in its history.
