Thai champion stops Tatsuyoshi in WBC title fight
OSAKA, Japan - Joichiro Tatsuyoshi goes limp after taking punishment from champion Veeraphol Nakonluangpromotion of Thailand who stopped the popular Japanese challenger in the seventh round to retain his World Boxing Council (WBC) bantamweight crown on Aug. 29. Veeraphol, who flattened Tatsuyoshi for the title last December, stung the third-ranked challenger repeatedly with sharp jabs and right crosses throughout their fight at Osaka Dome before American referee Richard Steele stepped in to stop the fight 44 seconds into the seventh round.
