Yokomichi enters DPJ leadership race

TOKYO, Japan - Takahiro Yokomichi, head of the executive council of the Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ), formally announces his candidacy Aug. 31 for what is certain to become a three-way election Sept. 25 for the party leadership. He will be pitted against incumbent leader Naoto Kan and Deputy Secretary General Yukio Hatoyama in the Sept. 25 election.
