Hostage-takers demand release of 50,000 comrades
BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan - Muslim guerrillas holding a group of hostages in southern Kyrgyzstan, including four Japanese mining engineers, are demanding the release of 50,000 comrades held in Uzbekistan, Kyrgyz sources said on Sept. 4. The photo shows a copy of the rebels' statement specifying the demand.
