Store starts trial sale of labeled cloned beef

TOKYO, Japan - A customer buys beef processed from a cloned cow and labeled as such at a meat store in Tokyo's Sumida Ward on Sept. 9. Five retailers in Tokyo, Kanagawa and Niigata prefectures began selling such beef on the day on a trial basis. The sale is part of a study by the Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Ministry to decide whether to make such labeling mandatory, as requested by consumer groups.
