3 MSDF ships leave for Turkey with prefab shelters

KOBE, Japan - The transport ship Osumi (C), the combat support ship Tokiwa and the minesweeper support ship Bungo of the Maritime Self-Defense Force (MSDF) leave Kobe port on the afternoon of Sept. 23 for Turkey, carrying 500 prefabricated houses for people who lost their homes in a killer earthquake. The quake hit northwestern Turkey on Aug. 17, killing more than 15,000 people and leaving many more homeless.

    YOKOSUKA, Japan - People see off the 8,150-ton refueling ship Tokiwa at Yokosuka base of the Maritime Self-Defense Force (MSDF) on Nov. 25 as the vessel and the 4,550-ton destroyer Harusame leave for the Indian Ocean.
