Japan's expedition team leaves for Antarctica by icebreaker
TOKYO, Japan - The Japanese government-backed 41st Antarctic expedition team departs Tokyo port's Harumi pier for the Showa Base in the Antarctic aboard the 11,600-ton icebreaker Shirase on Nov. 14. Some 3,000 people came to the pier to see off the team led by Masaru Ayukawa.
