Thousands of Acehnese stage rally, demand referendum

JAKARTA, Indonesia - Thousands of Acehnese stage a rally on Nov. 25 inside the compound of the Indonesian House of Representatives in Jakarta, demanding a referendum for independence for their province. The rally was held a day after President Abdurrahman Wahid said he will not call a referendum in Aceh on independence.
