Japan lifts sanctions on N. Korea
TOKYO, Japan - Chief Cabinet Secretary Mikio Aoki announces in Tokyo on Dec. 14 that Japan will lift its freeze on food aid to North Korea and plans to reopen negotiations on normalizing diplomatic ties. Japan will remove the last of a series of sanctions imposed after North Korea fired a rocket over Japan in 1998.
