Japanese girl one of Time's 'heroes for the planet'

MIYAZAKI, Japan - The photo shows Haruka Maruno and her pet dog Patrick. Haruka, a 12-year-old girl, has been chosen by Time magazine as one of its ''heroes for the planet'' for her invention of an environment-friendly pooper-scooper. She will be featured in the U.S. news magazine's Global Earth Day edition to go on sale April 19. Haruka lives in Miyakonojo, Miyazaki Prefecture, southwestern Japan.
