Robot SIG can differentiate human voices
TOKYO, Japan - A humanoid robot, dubbed SIG, (R), capable of differentiating people by the sound of their voices, is unveiled on May 15. It was developed by Hiroaki Hirano, a researcher at the Tokyo-based Science and Technology Promotion Institute, affiliated with the Science and Technology Agency. The prototype robot is able to identify speakers using its high-quality, built-in speech-recognition microphone.
