Former Premier Murayama mourns Obuchi at Diet
TOKYO, Japan - Former Japanese Prime Minister Tomiichi Murayama (in the background) on May 30 reads a eulogy for former Prime Minister Keizo Obuchi at a plenary session of the Diet. Speaking before members of the House of Representatives, Murayama, a member of the Social Democratic Party and premier from 1994 to 1996, said, ''I hoped to see Mr. Obuchi standing at the center among leaders of the Group of Eight at the Okinawa summit.'' Obuchi died May 14, six weeks after suffering a stroke and falling in a coma.
