Sentoryu makes elite makuuchi division

NAGOYA, Japan - Sentoryu (R), or Henry Miller from St. Louis, Missouri, on June 26 holds a new sumo rankings list for next month's Nagoya Grand Sumo Tournament. The list shows he is to debut in the elite makuuchi division as a No. 13 maegashira. Sentoryu is the first wrestler from the mainland United States to reach the division. On left is Kaio, who takes over the top sekiwake position after winning the summer tournament as a komusubi. He will be listed at sumo's third-highest rank for the 21st time in his career.

        TOKYO, Japan - Newly promoted ozeki Dejima proudly shows the ranking list for September's Autumn Grand Sumo Tournament, released Aug. 30 by the Japan Sumo Association, at his Musashigawa stable in Tokyo's Arakawa Ward. He joins sumo's 2nd highest rank for the first time in his career. Yokozuna Akebono, who narrowly missed a chance in July to win his first championship in over two years, is on top again in the new rankings.
