Eruption possible on west coast of Miyakejima: experts
TOKYO, Japan - Gaps run near the center of a road in the western part of Miyakejima, a small volcanic island 180 kilometers south of Tokyo, where more than 400 quakes per hour were recorded between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. June 28. Experts ruled out the possibility of a volcanic eruption in the eastern part of the island, but warned one could happen on the west coast.
