NIIJIMA, Japan - Residents of Niijima, a small island about 140 kilometers south of Tokyo, who had taken shelter at safer places, temporarily return to the island on July 16. Niijima was rocked by a strong earthquake, measuring lower 6 on the Japanese intensity scale of 7, on the morning of July 15.
