Women employees slam rejection of gender discrimination suit
OSAKA, Japan - Katsumi Nishimura (R) and Eiko Shirafuji (2nd from right) speak angrily to reporters July 31 against an Osaka District Court decision that rejected their claim for 160 million yen in compensation from their employer, Sumitomo Electric Industries Ltd. Nishimura and Shirafuji sued the Osaka-based wire and cable maker for allegedly discriminating against women in promotion.
