N., S. Korea reopen liaison offices in Panmunjom
PANMUNJOM, South Korea - South Korean Unification Minister Park Jae Kyu tests a direct telephone line to North Korea on Aug. 14, at a ceremony to mark the reopening of the two countries' liaison offices in the truce village of Panmunjom. The offices were shut down in 1996 in the wake of heightened tensions caused by a North Korean submarine infiltration on South Korea's east coast.
