Separated conjoined twin arrives in Oita to learn leg making
OITA, Japan - Nguyen Duc (C), a Vietnamese who was separated from his conjoined twin brother in 1988, waits at Oita's airport after arriving Aug. 19 for two weeks of technical training under Mikio Yuki (L), the Japanese designer and maker of his artificial leg. Duc, 19, will learn how to make and maintain replacement legs from Yuki. Duc was born joined to his twin, Viet, in 1981. The abnormality is suspected to have been caused by a defoliant scattered by U.S. aircraft in the Vietnam War.
