Groundbreaking ceremony held to reconnect Korea railway
SEOUL, South Korea - South Korea holds a groundbreaking ceremony Sept. 18 to kick off work to reconnect severed rails and roads with North Korea. The Kyonguisun railway in the demilitarized zone was cut when the Korean War broke out in 1950. The ceremony was held at Imjin Pavilion near the inter-Korean border in Paju, Kyonggi Province, with the presence of President Kim Dae Jung and about 1,000 dignitaries.
