Man caught trying to smuggle ecstasy into Japan
NARITA, Japan - A customs officer holds in his hand Sept. 27 tablets of methylene dioxy-methyl amphetamine (MDMA), commonly known as ecstasy, which an Israeli man attempted to smuggle into Japan earlier this month. David Bitton, 32, was taken into police custody for trying to smuggle 25,400 tablets of the drug in violation of the Narcotics Control Law, the largest amount of MDMA ever seized at the airport.
