Calls for Philippine President Estrada to resign escalate
MANILA, Philippines - Calls for Philippine President Joseph Estrada to resign grow as opposition and church leaders underscored his lack of moral authority to govern on charges he received millions of pesos in bribes from illegal gambling. Vice President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo (L), leader of the main opposition People's Power-National Union of Christian Democrats (Lakas-NUCD), and former President Corazon Aquino (C), participate in a mass in Manila Oct. 17 calling for Estrada to resign or take a leave until he is cleared of the charges.
