Nobel laureate Shirakawa meets premier
TOKYO, Japan - Hideki Shirakawa (L), recipient of the 2000 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, chats with Prime Minister Yoshiro Mori at the premier's official residence Oct. 18. Shirakawa told Mori he was given the award ''perhaps because (my research) was considered important in connection with the information technology revolution.''
