1st visa-free flight made to Russian-held islands

NAKASHIBETSU, Japan - A resident of Kunashiri Island, one of the four Russian-held islands off Hokkaido claimed by Japan, welcomes a group of Japanese nationals at the island's airport on Oct. 29. The Japanese delegation made the first visa-free flight to one of the disputed islands to attend a ceremony to mark the construction of a diesel power plant by the Japanese government.
