APEC foreign and trade ministers kick off 2-day meeting
BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Brunei - Foreign and trade ministers from 21 Pacific Rim economies pose in a photo session in the Brunei capital Nov. 12 before they start a two-day Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum meeting with debate centering on the importance of the multilateral free-trade regime. At the opening-day talks, they agreed to seek the launch of a new round of trade negotiations under the World Trade Organizations as soon as possible, although they remain split on whether to set a specific target date.
