Lower house panel approves bill to ban human cloning
TOKYO, Japan - Members of the House of Representatives Committee on Science and Technology stand up Nov. 15 in support of a bill that would make human cloning a crime carrying a punishment of up to 10 years in prison. If Diet business is not interrupted by a no-confidence motion that opposition parties may submit against Prime Minister Yoshiro Mori, the bill should be passed in the current Diet session ending Dec. 1.
