Yokomichi urges Hatoyama to quit as DPJ head
HAKODATE, Japan - Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ) deputy head Takahiro Yokomichi on Dec. 16 urges the party's leader, Yukio Hatoyama, to resign over his recent comments urging Japan to declare that it has a right to collective self-defense. ''If he continues the remarks, we can't deal with the House of Councillors election (scheduled for next summer), and if so we must have him quit,'' Yokomichi told a gathering in Hakodate, Hokkaido.
