PAILIN, Cambodia - Ieng Sary (file photo), former deputy prime minister of the Khmer Rouge regime, says Dec. 19 a proposed trial for former Khmer Rouge leaders should be abandoned to enable the Hun Sen government to focus on economic and political issues. His comments came as the government tries to deal with pressure from the United Nations and the United States to set up an internationally acceptable tribunal to try former Khmer Rouge leaders.
