Ice floe watching season begins in Hokkaido
ABASHIRI, Japan - People aboard the icebreaker Aurora enjoy their tour Jan. 19 as the ship sails its way through a vast field of ice floe in the Sea of Okhotsk off Abashiri, eastern Hokkaido. A record number of 171,000 tourists, many from Southeast Asian countries, enjoyed their trip during the last season. Organizers say the record is sure to be broken this season, which will last till April 1.
