L.A. rings in U.S. peace bell donated by Japanese group
LOS ANGELES, U.S. - Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordan rings a bell donated to the city by the World Peace Bell Association (WPBA) at an unveiling ceremony on the grounds of the Central Library in downtown L.A. Jan. 26. The bell, cast from coins collected from 103 nations and weighing about 116 kilograms, is the 17th to be presented by the WPBA, a nonprofit organization based in Japan.
