Ministry warns air traffic controllers over near-miss
TOKYO, Japan - Air traffic controllers work at the Tokyo Air Traffic Control Center in Tokorozawa, Saitama Prefecture Feb. 1. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport issued an order to air traffic controllers across Japan to pay the closest attention to secure air safety following the Jan. 31 near-miss involving two Japan Airlines (JAL) airplanes flying over western Japan. The incident left 42 passengers and crew injured, some seriously.
