Massive sell-off brings Nikkei to lowest close since July 1985

TOKYO, Japan - An electronic signboard at a securities company in Tokyo's Toranomon district shows that the key Nikkei Stock Averages of selected 225 issues plunged 419 points at the end of the session of March 2. The Nikkei index closed at 12,261.80, its lowest level in 15 years and seven months.
