Takahashi recognized as pro runner

TOKYO, Japan - Sydney Olympic marathon champion Naoko Takahashi smiles at a news conference in Tokyo on April 2 after she was formally recognized as a professional athlete the same day by the Japan Amateur Athletic Federation (JAAF). The recognition paved the way for the Japanese marathon runner to receive lucrative endorsements off the road.
