Koizumi to run in LDP leadership race to succeed Mori
AKITA, Japan - Former health minister Junichiro Koizumi, addressing a political gathering in Akita on April 6, pledges to run in an April 24 Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) presidental election to pick a successor to Prime Minister Yoshiro Mori. Koizumi said, ''I would be called a coward if I did not run because I was afraid of losing.''
