Jungle Pocket snatches victory in 68th Japan Derby
TOKYO, Japan - Top favorite Jungle Pocket (L) chased down Dantsu Flame (R) in the final stretch on May 27 as jockey Koichi Tsunoda notched his first-ever Japan Derby win over veteran Hiroshi Kawachi. Dantsu Flame had a clear lead going into the final furlong until Jungle Pocket thundered down the outside to claim victory by a half-length in the 68th Japan Derby with a time of 2 minutes, 27 seconds over the 2,400-meter turf test at Tokyo Racecourse.
