Taya pledges to steadily, impartially handle trial
TOKYO, Japan - Chikako Taya, elected June 12 by the United Nations as a judge in the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, speaks at a news conference June 13 at the Justice Ministry in Tokyo. Taya pledged to help conduct the trial in a steady and impartial way. She is the first woman from Japan to be appointed to any of the international courts.
