Fukuda apologizes over Tanaka request
TOKYO, Japan - Chief Cabinet Secretary Yasuo Fukuda (2nd from R) sits for a House of Representatives Rules and Administration Committee board meeting June 26 to offer apology over Foreign Minister Makiko Tanaka's attempt to limit parliamentary questioning by a fellow lawmaker. ''The person in question (Tanaka) deeply regrets the situation. We will make efforts to prevent a repeat of such a case,'' Fukuda told the committee on behalf of the government. The committee's board accepted the apology.
