Lower house committee calls for review of SOFA
TOKYO, Japan - Members of the House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee on July 10 unanimously adopted a resolution saying the Japanese government should promptly consider a review of the Japan-U.S. Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA). The resolution was made in the wake of a recent rape allegedly involving a U.S. serviceman stationed in Okinawa Prefecture. At left in the background is Foreign Minister Makiko Tanaka.
