Mayors from some 100 cities begin talks in Hiroshima
HIROSHIMA, Japan - Mayors and other representatives of about 100 cities in 30 countries kick off a six-day conference in the city of Hiroshima on Aug. 4 to discuss the roles of municipal governments in creating peace in the new century. Participants of the fifth World Conference of Mayors for Peace through Inter-city Solidarity will also explore ways to form networks among themselves to eliminate nuclear weapons and help prevent armed conflicts in various regions in the world.
