S. Korean lawmakers protest Koizumi's shrine visit
SEOUL, South Korea - Lawmakers from South Korea's ruling Millennium Democratic Party speak to reporters in front of the Japanese Embassy in Seoul on Aug. 16 after submitting to the embassy a letter to protest Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi's Aug. 13 visit to Tokyo's Yasukuni Shrine. In the letter, they expressed ''deep disappointment and a sense of betrayal'' at Koizumi's visit the Shinto shrine in defiance of repeated calls not to from neighboring countries.
